PSSRF TEAM SARCOMA 2009

Wow, what a beautiful day!  Our Team Sarcoma 2009 turned out be another success.  We had our biggest crowd ever, 168 participants.  This included 18 cyclist, 3 runners and the rest walkers.  We are very close to our goal of raising 10K for sarcoma!  We all enjoyed some oranges, compliments of Mr. Bill Givens; drank lots of water; compliments of Marylou Osterman and Carol Anuszewski; pretzels donated by Ellen Reese; and a terrific bake sale organized by a wonderful group from the   Joan Karnell Cancer Center.  Pamela Barr's family, "Murphy's Mission" above, was not only our biggest family unit, but also made their own shirts.  Awesome job!  The morning started at 7:30 am with Nick Bruzzese and Bryan Mason leading our cyclist off on their 30 mile ride.  Then came our walkers setting out for their 5k at 8:30 and last, but not least, our three brave runners.  This year we were joined by patients, staff, family and friends of the Joan Karnell Cancer Center.  Thank you all so much for coming.  It was truly wonderful meeting you all and spending some time with you.  Each of you have renewed my faith in the fact that this is what I should be doing.  I want to especially thank my sister Susan for making the trip from Boston to join us this year.  The foundation's idea came from Sue, and although many of you only recognize my name, her encouragement and my family's support is why we exist.  I cannot possibly go without a huge thank you to Linda Resende and her many family and friends who again made the drive down from Union, New Jersey.  You are the best Linda!  For the third year in a row, we are blessed to have Kristine Walinski with her family and friends supporting us in droves and  gratefully as well Patricia Dempsey and Jared Grossman.  This has not been a good year for all of us, but each of you showed up with smiles and laughter, and hung in there for the cause.  Ours hearts are filled because of you.  I am proud to say our "support board" grows with names and will continue.  Andrea, Al, Lawrence, Mike, Sherril, Steve; just a few of the names that will be added!  I would love to add everyone, so please email us with your name.  Certainly not one person can do it all.  My sincere gratitude to Tom Dyer who gets all my things there every year; our friends who work the table, and my brother Tom.  Tom provides many things that no one ever finds about, but make the day that much nicer!  A special thanks to Marylou Osterman and Carly Roop; you two are terrific.  It has been my great pleasure to work with you both.
